TGIT: Thank Goodness for Technology

Another week has come and gone and technology is still on the rise. All the technology news can seem rather daunting, but don’t worry – we’ve got your back. To keep up with this week’s news (like the fail of the Blackberry Playbook) you can browse through the articles below.

Neutral news:

  • Twitter is integrating another tool to help users.
  • Apple has scheduled a media event for September 7, which could mean the release of the highly-anticipated iPhone5.
  • Google is hyping up “Native Client,” an open source technology that is the missing link between native and Web apps.
  • LTE networks are being rolled out by the dozen (OK that’s not an exact number). Currently there are 1 million LTE connections and by 2015 there should be 300 million. Read this article for pros and cons.
  • QR codes are everywhere in the tech world, and in this early stage of adoption we are finding out that currently the codes are mostly used for traditional advertising.  However, we could see a shift in this trend.

Somebody’s not happy, news:

  • Bad news for the Blackberry Playbook, now what Sprint does not support the tablet no U.S. carrier does.
  • A study shows that some Android Apps that are available in the Android Market access user’s private data – sometimes without asking.
  • PR Daily reminds those of us using personal social media accounts that all content should be suitable for our professional lives as well
  • Unfortunately, approximately 1/3 of iPhone4 users already think they own a 4G device.
  • Location data could be being misused by law enforcement, and the American Civil Liberties Union calls them out.
