Mark Your Calendars for August
Turns out my heads-up memo on upcoming holidays is among the most popular posts on the blog. If the world needs this information, I’m happy to provide it.
Please be advised of the upcoming holidays in the month of August.
I wouldn’t write it if it wasn’t real: Start August out right by celebrating Grab Some Nuts Day on August 3rd.
Depending on how your Grab Some Nuts Day festivities go, you may want to consider the following Saturday’s observation of Blackmail Day, August 5th.
One of my favorite days of the years is Sunday, August 6th, Fresh Breath Day. Sunday is also National Root beer Float Day. What a pleasant way to start the second week of the month, don’t you think? Need something more? The NFL kicks off its preseason schedule with the Oakland Raiders vs. the Philadelphia Eagles in the Hall of Fame Game, also on August 6th.
On August 12th you’ll find Middle Child’s Day sandwiched between the always popular Romance Day and International Youth Day (who doesn’t like cute international youth?).
An important day for John S. is August 13th, the day he’ll celebrate both Left-Handers Day and National Filet Mignon Day.
August 15th is also important because of a certain someone’s birthday: Debra Messing. Not really a holiday, but if she worked for MoPR we’d give her the day off.
August 16 finds True Love Forever Day paired with Tell A Joke Day. It’s also National Rum Day.
We were all very touched by the dozens of Don’t Step on a Bee Day greetings we received from you last month. You should know that Monday, August 21st is Scrape The Bugs Day. Please be sure to extend good wishes from everyone here at MoPR to you and yours for a very happy – and safe – Scrape The Bugs Day.
Chop Suey Day falls on August 29 this year, and the 43rd International Red Telephone Day, commemorating the hotline between the US and the Soviet Union, falls on August 30.
And if you haven’t done so already this summer – for our Northern Hemispheric friends – August 31 is the day to dine alfresco; it’s Eat Outside Day.
Please don’t forget that the United States Congress has designated the month of August as National Brownies at Brunch Month as well as National Catfish Month.
Visit American Greetings and Web-Holidays.com for more holidays in August. If we missed any important holidays or you want to alert us to upcoming holidays, please leave us a comment.
Check back next month for the holiday schedule during National Papaya Month.
